Basic social services

Explanation:
Basic social services are directed without discrimination at the entire population. The system comprises multifunction, multidisciplinary units whose central purpose is to carry out community action.

Services available:
- Information, assessment and guidelines for the entire population concerning social rights and resources;
- Services and programmes in support of peaceful coexistence and aid in the home;
- Intervention programmes to provide resources and means to promote social integration of individuals, families and groups, with special emphasis on the prevention of marginalisation;
- Awareness programmes;
- Management of financial aid;
- Provision of consistent, co-ordinated, systematic information
- Determination of social needs in the field of education.

The programmes in place include:
   Home help:
     - Remote assistance.
     - The Basque placement plan:
              Basic welfare payments (R.B.)
              Emergency welfare payments (A.E.S.)

Placement agreements:
    The areas involved are the following:
     - Children, young people and families.
     - Women.
     - the elderly.
