Tourism in Zierbena

Logo of Zierbena sabor a mar

Zierbena, nestled in a unique natural enclave a mere 20 minutes from Bilbao, is a small municipality on the coast of the Basque province of Bizkaia, the ideal place for lovers of the sea, sea-sports, seafood and everything else related with the sea.

From end to end, La Arena Beach’s 966 metres of amazing beach invites swimming, sun-bathing, and surfing for everybody. Aside from all the habitual services, there are also special services available for those beach-goers with mobility restrictions. Zierbena Port, with its ancestral enchantment, fishing and recreational boats and its magnificent seafood restaurants, entices visitors to savour the moment.

Zierbena, which is on the Northern Route of St. James Way, has so much to see and do, for example walking up the Serantes, Montaño and Punta Lucero Mountains. One can also go biking or walking along the 11 km-long bidegorri, the longest in the network of exclusive red-coloured bike and walking paths, in Bizkaia. For sports enthusiasts, two long-standing traditions in Zierbena are sea rowing and Katxete bowling, a regional variety of open-air bowling.

The Itsaski Azoka-Seafood Fair is held the first weekend in October, where great seafood can be tasted at great prices in a truly joyful festive atmosphere.

We look forward to seeing you in Zierbena, a place close to the sea.
